Here are some useful tips to know about your machine.
This is the Espresso button on your machine. You will press this button to start your machine's rinse cycle. You will also press this button after inserting an espresso pod to brew true Starbucks ® espresso.
This is the Brewed Coffee button on your machine. You will press this button after inserting a brewed coffee pod to brew rich, flavorful coffee.
This is the Milk button. You will press this button after inserting a milk pod to produce creamy, perfectly steamed 2% milk.
Lift the machine's handle all the way back so it is at a 90 degree angle to the machine. Insert the pod needed for your drink. Close the handle quickly and with one swift, continuous motion. You will feel some pressure or tension as you close the handle – this is normal. The pressure indicates the machine is puncturing the pod in preparation to brew. After brewing, simply lift the machine's handle and the used pod will drop into the discard bin inside the machine. The pod discard bin holds up to 10 used pods.
As you'll see in your 580 Quick Start Guide, you should rinse the machine five times before the first time you use it. After that, every time you turn on the machine, you will be prompted to rinse the machine. This means that only the top Espresso button will be lit indicating for you to rinse before making your first beverage. After rinsing, all three buttons will light up and it's ready to make your first beverage. Rinsing helps keep your machine clean and ensures the highest quality tasting beverages.
Your machine includes a height-adjustable drip tray. The tray contains a removable riser – use it to place your cup close to the drip nozzle, or remove it to accommodate larger size beverages.
Your machine will also ship with a white sticker on the surface of the metal drip tray grate. We recommend removing this sticker before you use your machine.
